Following the second part of the history of Christian martyrs in this post I want to write about some other persecutions that were relevant and very important to the point that today we can understand what really lived these true believers to Christ that did not sell their faith, nor merchant with her at his whim.
Friends, oh but painful truth that is real, what we know as the Church was born and raised in the middle of extreme suffering fully bathed in blood and then be studying today I am convinced that what is taught and lived in many Christian circles today, is not even 5% of the truth preached by the First Apostles and by Jesus Christ, but I think I'll have time to write about these new issues will emerge gradually and which post them on this blog.
The lives of these early Christians were first expressed by the Roman Coliseum and the Catacombs, which were under Rome in its subways, which were the graves of thousands of thousands of Christians also martyred and hundreds of pagan Romans. In these catacombs were placed bodies and were closed with a slab of marble. Years later when Christian tombs were opened skeletons told the terrible story, severed heads were found in the body, broken ribs and collar bones, bleached bones by the fire but in spite of all this you could read the inscriptions of peace and joy and triumph
"Here lies Marcia, put to rest in a dream of peace."
"Lorenzo to his sweetest son, borne by angels."
"Victorious in peace and in Christ."
"When called, it was peace. "
Quite contrary to the tombstones of the Roman pagans who did not die but their tombstones saying suffering things like
"Live for the present time, because we are sure of nothing."
"I raise my hand against the gods that I took from twenty years but had done nothing wrong."
"Once was not. Now I'm not. I know nothing about it, and it is not my concern. "
" Pilgrim, do not curse me as you pass here, because I am in darkness and I can not answer. "
