An earthquake of magnitude 5 on the Richter scale struck at 10:22 pm the department of Lambayeque, but was felt in various parts of the country, according to the Geophysical Institute Peru (IGP).
The quake struck 44 kilometers north of the town of Olmos, on the night of Monday August 16, 2010 and shook the entire region of Lambayeque. However, the inhabitants of Piura and Tumbes also perceived the shaking.
Fortunately there are no reported damage or personal regrets.
